Laredo
Community College has joined with The Texas TWO-STEP Project to offer technical
students easier transfer options to earn university degrees once they complete
their associate of applied science degrees. In an unprecedented initiative, technical
students may transfer up to 68 total hours, 24 hours of approved technical coursework
and 44 hours of core general education courses, from Laredo Community College
to the Interdisciplinary Studies Program or the College of Science at the University
of Texas at Arlington to earn an academic bachelor’s degree. The College of Science
may accept up to 24 hours of technical coursework toward degrees in biology, chemistry,
geology, mathematics, physics, and psychology. Also, LCC has an articulation agreement
with the University of Texas at Brownsville under the B.A.T. (Bachelor of Applied
Technology) and B.A.A.S. (Bachelor of Arts and Applied Sciences). Technical students
may choose from the following areas: Health Sciences, Business, Technology, Public
Services, or Human Services. This collaborative endeavor between Laredo Community
College and the Texas TWO-STEP Project will open up educational opportunities
to students who previously felt that a bachelor’s degree was beyond their reach,
thus making them more competitive in the job market. Texas
